IST Systems Corporation was formed as a Joint Venture on November 18, 1996 and is the result of close cooperation between
Instron Corporation and Carl Schenck AG. As of September 30, 1998 Instron acquired the remaining interest, forming IST as a worldwide division focused on servohydraulic structural simulation. This
acquisition makes IST one of the largest, and most experienced, suppliers in the world of structural and simulation test equipment. The decision to create IST was determined by one pre-dominant
factor: the desire to serve the interests of customers’ engaged in structural testing better than ever before. The philosophy that drives IST is one of supreme excellence in testing technology.

IST maintains its own engineering, marketing, development, sales, applications, service, and support personnel, at sites in
Detroit, MI, High Wycombe, England, and Darmstadt, Germany. Engineering teams are located at each manufacturing site, and sales/applications/service offices are strategically placed near major
customer centers, making it a truly trans-national organization. Close co-operation ensures that product refinements, which benefit our customers, are quickly assessed and incorporated into our
standard offerings. No matter where in the world an idea originates, all IST customers benefit.
In addition to the traditional automotive structural durability area, IST has also specialized in crash safety testing.
Specifically, IST was the first to adopt closed-loop servohydraulic technology for crash sled testing. With over 24 installations worldwide, IST is the leader in high performance crash sled
technology. Recent developments and enhancements to this offering include the ability to perform a broader range of testing, including side impact and pitching simulation.
A principle advantage of our offerings is modular design coupled with high throughput. Initially, an investment can be
made in a basic system, and upgraded later on with additional capability. Options which further increase test efficiency and cycle time provide a tool with superior performance and throughput
to meet today’s demands of more realistic sled testing and faster turnaround.
The performance criteria of our testing systems are setting a benchmark for the entire industry. Throughout the industrial
